Road Trip!!

Thanksgiving is over (insert big sigh here). Hub and I spent approximately 10 hours driving out to west Texas to see my parents. What is really hard to believe is that it was my idea to drive. Me, the person who gets grumpy after a mere 2 hours in a car, suggested we drive to El Paso. It was actually pretty nice spending some quality (?) time with Hub. The only cruel thing I did was make him listen when I was singing along with the radio. What can I say...we had fun.
Time with the folks was great, spent lots of time with them and my brother Mike.
I'm proud to say I didn't stuff myself with turkey and all the fixin's. The only thing we didn't do is eat Mexican food. Go figure, we're in Mexican food mecca of the Southwest and not even one enchilada, not one tamale, not one morsel of refried beans was consumed. How sad!!
Instead we had some tasty ribs my brother threw on the grill and then the turkey and more turkey.
We hit the road back to big D early Saturday morning in some of the heaviest snow I have seen in years. Huge flakes of snow just kept coming - it was gorgeous. The snow let up less than an hour outside EP, when it turned to a mist all the way to Dallas.
Normally, the drive would have taken us about 10 hours, less than that actually, because when I was driving the cruise control was set at 85 mph. Boy, was I haulin' - hey, for me this was haulin'.
When Hub took over the wheel, the speed limit was reduced to 70. Poor guy didn't get to be the speed demon on this trip.
About an hour outside of Ft. Worth, the road was reduced to two lanes - one east and one west - due to road work. That totally sucked. We were zooming down 35 miles of highway at speeds ranging from 5 mph to 45 mph. That sooo put us behind schedule. We finally made it to the "casa" at 7 PM - 12.5 hours after we left EP.
It was sooo nice to get home and see the guys (cats). i think they missed us because they bitched-meowed us for a few minutes. Then they were all over us - pet me, pet me!!
My next post will probably have something to do with work and the Grand Dame, but I promise not to rant and rave like my previous post. I, after all, am above that. NOT!
Till next time...
