I found a coffee house a block away from the hotel that offers free WiFi, so instead of paying for it at the hotel I opted to save money and do it for free!
So, below are the events of yesterday.
Wednesday's post:
Okay, as I sit here at the airport, I started thinking about my experience coming thru security. I did everything I was supposed to do: took off my shoes, placed my laptop in a bin, and walked thru the metal detector.
When I heard that damn buzzer.
After three attempts to get thru I realized my knee brace had metal in it. If I had remembered I would have left it off until I passed security. Well, here comes the female security agent to start the process. It wasn’t too bad, she was actually a very nice woman. We were having a nice conversation the entire time.
I have about 30 minutes before I board my plane and begin my new adventure. I am going to try to post this, but if I can’t I’ll do it as soon as possible.
Man, the people at the airport are weird. People just sit and star at you while your typing, especially the elderly. I guess they’re not accustomed to seeing loads of people on laptops in public places.
Right now there are approximately 6 people (including myself) on a laptop, and about 12 who are in the process of texting someone.
Well I think I’ll go off and find something to eat before take-off.

I am in Chicago, Chi-town, the Windy City, home of the Magnificent Mile!!
The flight was uneventful (thank goodness). I napped on the plane, and the next thing I knew it was almost time to land.
I grabbed a shuttle bus and headed toward downtown. Traffic from O’Hare was horrendous. It took approximately 45 minutes to get to the north end of downtown. Once in downtown, traffic was much better. I was the last stop and thought of it as a mini tour. Martin, the driver, pointed out some of the old historic buildings and made suggestion of where I should go to eat. One was Giordano’s for pizza and Portillo’s for a dawg. He was really a very nice young man.
I checked into the hotel pretty much in record time – less than 5 minutes. I requested an upgrade, but considering the rate I’m paying, it didn’t happen. I was placed in a large King room, actually, as I sit here surveying the room, I can safely say that it is a really nice room.
I decided to take a walk and see what was around, plus I was hungry and wanted to grab something to eat. I ended up walking north up Michigan avenue all the way to Wacker (love that word) drive. It’s a nice little jaunt. I turned left, walked to Wabash and headed south. Stopped at a Starbucks (btw, one on every other corner) for a quick coffee and one of the baristas recommended the Pittsfield CafĂ©. I walked a bit more and when I finished my coffee I headed over to the cafe. It turned out to be a really interesting little place in the Pittsfield building. The food was good, and found out they’re open for breakfast. The owner was telling me they make a mean omelet. I may give it a try.
I made it back to the hotel and realized that I was tired. Now it’s time to take a nice hot bath.
