Momma Loves You Better

I know I've mentioned that I would not bitch about work in this blog, but today I just can't help it.

Yesterday, due to my inability to drive (the boot, remember?) and potentially bad weather, I didn't make it into the office. So despite the fact that I worked emails and forwarded work assignments, I had to take a vacation day. I had no problem with that until this morning.

After checking email, I found out that due terrible, freezing rains which blew through Dallas last night, many of my co-workers will not be going into the office due to extremely icy road conditions. Which is completely understandable.
Out of 6 people that sent emails, only 2 are going to try to make it in - I am one of the two. WolfLoverGirl is the other.
The boss lady, will be working from home - she has that prerogative because she is the boss and has the ability/connectivity and authority to do so. No one else in the department, below management level, has the authority or ability to also work from home. With the apparent exception of one - the Mentor. She apparently still has, in her possession, a laptop which was loaned to her when she attended a seminar/class months ago.
So this person sent an email stating that SHE WAS WORKING FROM HOME today, in her flannel pajamas. Which, I am most certain, that she will not be using a vacation day like everyone else who choose to stay home.

What ticks me off about this is the fact that a) she has the ability to do so - please note, she is not a manager, and b) she sends an email out gloating about it.

Is her work more important than others???

I'm running on a deadline, I have 93 items that need to be addressed by Thursday - tomorrow!!! But yes, I am going into the office as soon as I can.

Maybe I should go in my flannel pajama's and a bowl of cereal in hand.
